Had a good friend of mine out from TN doing some work in CA, so we took the opportunity to do a little fishing at Diamond Valley while he was here. Had a good friend of mine out from TN doing some work in CA, so we took the opportunity to do a little fishing at Diamond Valley while he was here. Two things I noticed right off the dock this morning - the water is rising quickly and it was chilly! The water has to be up about 30 feet year to date, although it is still probably down 60 feet from full pool. The changing water level along with unusually cold July temps kinda threw things out of whack. I didn't take off my sweatshirt until 1pm and it only got to a high of 85 degrees!
That being said we still managed to get a few, with all but 1 fish caught between 6:30a-8:30a. Nothing really big, but still fun on the little baits and the 6lb outfits.
Our totals for the day-
8 largemouth
4 stripers
3 smallmouth
1 crappie
8 bluegill
1 striper and 1 bass on a topwater, all other fish on the scrounger. My buddy got the biggest bass of the day on a 5" Producer Plug.
If we had caught a catfish and a trout we would have covered all species in the lake ..... Next time - HaHa!
