I spent a few hours on some new water today that is known for its trout, but as you can probably guess I wasn't looking for trout. There are some rumors going around that there are some toothy critters (Pike) swimming around in the Nezinscot River, well they are true. I did bring a camera like I always do but after hooking into a 6 pounder I went to snap a pic, and relized some dummy never took the battery off the charger before he left his house! so no photos I guess you will have to take my word for it. I think you can trust me by now. The funny thing was I have a facebook friend that told me he was fishing for trout and gave me his exact location where he caught a Pike. So I made that spot my starting point, and wouldnt you know my third or forth cast wamo! Pike on! so it wasent a fish story. I did some exploring but we had a high wind comming from the NW and the BP was low at a 28.6 This river is like a big maze with alot colder water then what i'm use to fishing. It has steep banks with a ton of structure and the river is not wide but I bet its 20 feet deep. There were alot of young large mouth bass a couple inches long that I could see, but I never hooked up with any bigger ones, I know there must be some real pigs in there.(this water is untouched for the most part, the boat launch is sand and only enough room to park on vehicle) I think it was the day. My day was short due to the high winds making it difficult to fish, but I will be going back to spend time on this water it looks like it could hold some monsters. Pike grow there fasted when they eat trout, and this is a trout river.
