I paid the $90 fee to charter the 110 foot Thelma Dale out of Lewes, DE. There were about 25 anglers on the boat that day. We fished the coral and rock reefs about 10 miles east of Rehobeth Beach. The first drift landed a few keeper Fluke and some short Sea Bass. The tide was pulling hard and it was difficult to keep our bait on the bottom. I was using 12-16oz of weight most of the day. Nothing I used seemed to work twice. First a minnow would work, then squid, then gulp shrimp, then mullett. It seemed like i had to switch baits all the time since nothing was working twice. I saw a lot of guys use a high low rig with bucktails and they were catching a lot of fish. All in all probably 20 keepers were boarded. I ended up with 2 Sea Bass and 7 Fluke, 1 Fluke was a keeper at just the minimum 18.5". We did a total of maybe 6-7 drifts and each one got fish but the amount of keepers were lower than usual. All in all it was a good trip, just wish there was better action on bigger fish...and maybe a few more bites. I would charter them again. Next time I might try working the front of the boat since this time I got the back right corner. Also I needed to use a lighter rod since my stiff trolling rodes hardly showed that there was a fish on. I also doubt I'd use minnows again, I think the squid and artificial bait works just fine.
