this was the last stop on our "Milk run" for Largemouth for 12-26-09. Things really started heating up at this pond. finally we found the more active bass! Its very hard to find active pond bass here in west Tennessee during the cold month of december (especially when the wind is blowing 20-25 mph like it was today), But we were able to get a few here to round out the day! I started it off with a small largemouth on a spinnerbait with gold willow leaf blades. I was getting a lot of strikes on the bait, but I believe most of them were striking at the Gold blades rather than the skirted hook, because hookups just werent consistant. bryan landed the next one with a 1 Lb'er on a spinnerbait. Then I snagged my third of the day with a Tube bait. the sun was starting to drop, and Bryan and i decided to keep fishing until we could no longer see our lines. then all at once, just a few minutes before 5 Pm, Bryan rared back with a very solid hookset...I knew by the way he leaned back on it, and by the way his rod tip started dancing and doubling over that he had hooked the big bass for today! he wrestled back and forth with the Big bass for 20-30 seconds before "horsing" the tired Bass onto the bank at his feet. I was already running towards him to offer him a hand if needed when i heard him give a "rebel yell"!!! I knew it must be just as big as I had suspected. When i got close to Bryan he bent down and disappeared behind the tall weeds around him, and when he stood back up he was holding a Lunker pond bass! the chunk weighed in at 5 hefty Lbs, and was 20.5 inches long!!! Thats a great pond fish any day of the year, especially on a cold december day with the wind blowing so hard you can barely stand! That brought Bryans totol for the day to 4 bass, and i finished right behind him with 3. Bryan, You are the man today!!! LOL. Good trip today. Its really fun when you can get out and Lip a few in the less desireable conditions...and thats exactly what we done!
