My son Jason & I fished aboard the Captain John otu of Keyport today. I fished the bow and he wa sin the stern. Conditions were less than ideal most of the morning with wind against the tide. I fished a 1.5 ounce white spro bucktail with a teaser hook rigged above both tipped with a chartreuse 4" GULP swimming minnow all day and Jason dragged bait all day. Fishing stated of as a slow pick due to conditions. I was able to scratch out 3 keeper fluke to 19.5"s out of the 9 I caught and 1 cocktail bluefish before 10 AM while Jason didn't even have a fish in the boat. Fished mainly the east side of the Prince's Bay area. I caught 3 more shorts and Jason finally got on the board, with his first fish being a keeper before noon. Took a ride to the east & by now had a semi decent drift. I was able to catch an additional 11 fluke, albeit all shorts. Jason added 2 more keepers and some shorts. I ended the day with 3 keeper fluke out of the 23 I caught (+1 bluefish) and Jason caught 3 keepers out of the 12 he caught. NOTE: in the attached pictures Jason is only holding 2 of ther 3 keepers he caught.
