CHASE N' TAILS FISHING CHARTERS FISHING REPORT.
The fishing is great but with this strong East wind is keeping the water out for a longer period of time. I would start off for trout and redfish in the morning. Redfish are making there way out along the outer points, and osyter bars i like a high out going tide for redfish start off with a topwater lure with a good heavy rattles in the lure like a skitter walk by Rapala. Work the lure at a slow pace and once you get a redfish to explode on the lure do not set the hook until you fell the fish on the end of your line alot of anglers will try to set then hook when they see the reaction strick and will miss the fish every time.As the day progress switch to a jerk bait like a gulp new penny or a pearl white or a sub surface lure like a sebile works wonders trust me i caught some of my biggest reds on a sebile. Live shrimp, pinfish, and white bait are the best bet for live bait use a 3/0 circle hook and free line up against the shore line always look for jumping mullet and nervous water for the redfish. The reds are in larger schools and most of the fish are over the slot up 34 inches this week.
Trout are making ther way out to deeper water target the spoil islands along Hernando beach channel you can be surprise on what you can find there and grass flats from 2 feet to 6 feet try a topwater in the morning i use the same one as redfish and switch to a 1/4 oz jig head with a gulp shrimp will produce a great catch and for the live bait guys get a few dozen shrimp and cast net for some pin fish and white bait will be great to use as well. A popping cork is a great way to get the fish attention throw it out there with live bait or with a jig and pop the cork as you reel it in letting the cork set for a few seconds each time you twich the rod.
The macks are here and in big numbers start off around range markers, crab trap lines, and any rock piles off the Hernando coast line up to Chazz any live bait will work just use a 2/3 long shank hook to prevent cut offs and a sliver spoon will do the trick as well any day now the cobia will be here and the BIG BAD BOYS THE TARPON will be on the flats as well, the fishing is on FIRE right now so book your trip as soon as you can to hold your date as they fill up qiuckly call for available dates and lets catch you a great memory.
