Took my wife up to fish with my mate Bargy how runs charters out of hervey bay. Weather was ok 15knot ne so was protected by Fraser Island. Longtail tuna were every where and I hooked up very first cast, nice fish around 18lb. My wife then had a turn and hooked up on her second cast landing a nice longtail around the same size. Both these fish were on snapback soft plastics, I then tried to catch one on fly third cast got a follow and strike but couldnt set the hook then after some effort casting with a right shoulder wind manged to connect to a longtail on fly but got a knot in fly line and busted him off. We then went and caught a few more longtails on spin gear before cruising the flats looking for tuna in the shallows, when we spotted a larhe dark figure swimming north. We repositioned the boat an I landed a small popper on what look like a Cobia nose one twitch and he ate it. We had no way of landing him in the boat so I hoped out and landed him on the beach, took acouple of photos and let him go to swim another day
