Jeremy and i decided to head over to Cooper pond to try to get on a few of those sluggish December bass, Dispite the drastic drop in temperatures the day before. It was a harsh kind of cold out, and the wind was gusting really hard....Not to mention the drizzling rain and partially frozen precipitation that was collecting on our faces. Upon arriving at the cooper pond we realized that the canoe we normally fish out of at this small bass heaven had been removed from the bank of the pond for the winter. Not sure if the canoe was moved by the property owners to keep it out of harsh weather or what, but regardless of the situation, we were confined to fishing from the bank. Now i wont use that for an excuse, but we all know that alot of "winter bass" collect in places that are not within reach of bank Anglers. We threw everything we had at them, and only caught one small largemouth. I really thought that we could talk a few more into biting than what we did, even despite the harsh weather, but it just didnt happen. we finally left the pond around noon to go find some heat to thaw out our cold bones. with any luck at all we will get another chance at them before the year ends! I am only scheduled to work 3 days this coming week (Christmas week), so if we can get temps high enough to keep the waters from freezing completely over, then I will definately be out hunting that one last round of largemouth of 2009! Good luck to all my fellow addicts who will be on the water (or Ice)!
