Sunny, mid 40's in morning / upper 70's-low 80's in afternoon, water visibility up to 18', and almost no one on the lake due to the SuperBowl and the reports that fishing for stripers has been dead. Once again, I took 1 rod and never changed baits all morning. We had several swirls / followers early and then I had one
CRUSH the plug at 8am. It weighed 17 lbs 11 oz on the scale. Snapped a
couple of pics before the release and I got the whole thing on video. What an explosion and hole in the water it made on the strike. Unfortunately, the video is not in focus! You can see what happens but it is like you are in a daze trying to watch it. Stuck it out until 2pm for a few more swirls, and still made it home for kickoff. The marina says it has been sloooooow for stripers.... Tough, but not impossible!
