The trout bite has been the best action for the past few week's we are finding the trout in 1-4 feet of water through out the Nature Coast. Early in the morning I like to use top water lures such as the Badonk A Donk in the Bone Color or a Rapala Skitter Walk in the Mullet or White color work the lure at a slow pace for some great top water action and when the sun get's high noon I like to use a popping cork with a Gulp 3" Shrimp under the cork produces some big trout it is not uncomin to catch 50+ trout a day and them all to be in the slot and over me and my nephew Nathan went out yesterday and killed the trout we caught well over 50+ trout from 16-22" in no time.
The redfish have been hidding this week the one's we do see have lock jaw for some reason I think it is the water tempture going up and down every 2-3 day's from the cold fronts, but there are redfish around look on the out side points leading into creeks and coves all way's look for mullet school's making nervius water or just jumping for the past month fresh cut bait has been the trick I like cut pin fish or a big green back on a 2/0 circle hook and a 20-30lb sufix leader. Most of the fish are in the upper slot and over 32" . As the water starts to drop through Fall the reds will push into the back creek's and cove's Top water lures are the way to go in the morning the same lures you would use for trout will work for redfish as well.
There are ton's of Spanish Mackrel in 4-8 feet around bait school's and the mack's are huge live green backs with a 2/0 long shank hook and 30lb sufix leader is a great rig for the toothy preditors, the mackrel are crashing on these bait school's look from Hudson to Bayport you find the bait school's the mack's are right in the mix of them the size of the mackrel are 18-26".
