The first day of the Hawg Hunters Classic had my wife and I catching a lot of short bass. Finally, I pitched a Helix fat stix worm (black and Blue) to a log in the middle of the canal, above the Sportsmen's club and I was rewarded with the only keeper of the day. I missed another nice chunk that wrapped me around a couple of stumps and broke the line. I was beaten out of lunker by 2/10 of an ounce. Hopefully we will do better tomorrow for day 2, which is on Sunset Lake. I give my wife a lot of credit for the thowback bass that she caught., a few were just a hair under the 12 inch limit.
