Chase N' Tails Fishing Charters Fishing Report
Inshore things are looking good, The green backs are 3-4" long and make for great Trout and Redfish bait along with pinfish. When I use bait I like to use a 2 - 3/0 circle hook, a 20lb Suffix leader, and 10lb Power Pro for Redfish and Trout. The key to finding the redfish is mullet find the large mullet schools and the reds will hang around with them to forge on what the mullet stir up shrimp, crabs, creek chubs, pinfish, ect. All ways keep casting distance away so the reds wont spook. This past week and this week I have been seeing redfish in large schools 15-30 fish in a school and we only got 3 keepers out of the whole bunch. Most of the reds are 28-35". On the negative low tides these schools of reds are tailing in the shallow water around oyster bars and rock piles and near by flats. We are doing very well on lures such as the Rapala Skitter Walks, White Jerk Baits, and Mirro-Lure Mirro- Deens. As September goes on the reds should stay in these large schools through Fall.
Trout are working there way in to the shallows 2-8 feet we are catching nice size trout in 1-3 feet on top waters and also out in the 8 feet range. Out in the deeper water I like to use a 1/4oz Mission Fishin Jig head with a 3" Gulp shrimp we are doing well with New Penny and White aslo Spanish Mackrel are out in good nummbers look in the 6-12 feet and around the bait schools there are lots of bait school west of Aripeka about 3-6 miles out. And sharks are with the bait schools and along with some nice size trout.
Fishing is great so book a awesome fishing trip and get your tackel ready stop into Precision Tackel and see Dave he will show you what you need to catch these fish.
