i personally have invited close to a 1000 people, but i think word of mouth is your greatest type of "free" advertising..i tell everyone i meet about the site and if everyone on here does the same it would grow rapidly.. the biggest problem that i'm having with people they dont want to believe that the site is free..they think that there is hidden cost of which i say no its free and once they venture and actually check the site out they see it is in deed a good free site..if eveyone who reads this tells 2 people about the site you would be surprised how the numbers would grow.

something else has been bothering me too and yes it may seem petty to some but i have the right to voice my opinion.. just about everything about the site is great..but... i do have one pet peeve on your list of ranks you have the rank"captain" i for one earned my captains title with alot of hard work, strick physical and drug test had to get a twic card, cpr/first aid card, go through a coast guard back ground check, a sea school and take test and then became a "Captain" of which i'm proud of and worked hard for that title..but here all ya have to do is put a few reports and add some fish pics and your called captain ? just wish you would have come up with another name for that slot..i know it may not seem important to most but it does to me. I too have used the word of mouth thing, handed out cards for fishaddix and posted flyers, the one thing i come up with is people telling me they dont have time to figure out a complex website, i of course tell them its not complex and make refereance to 4 hours a day they waste on facebook and myspace and promise them that this is better than internet porn, your not likey t to see naked women here but your not gonna get a computer STD also. lol. I think this site could handle the masses but you might need to figure out if you guys are ready to handle the masses. i know sites like facebook and myspace get operating capitol from selling advertising space on the site. it maybe something you need to do also. if you get into the hundreds of thousands of memebers chances are you would have to hire a staff of people to keep things operating. I think that if you have sponsors you need to get them to help kick in the advertising gears on their part and do more than just post the fishaddix name on their website, maybe a sponsor who also sponsors a pro thats on tv they could get the pro to day something on the show about it, or even something like a small add on city limits fishing (or any other you could get it on) I do agree with troy that word of mouth is the best under most circumstances but i think the big break needs the help of a "name" (person or product) thats highly recognized as "top of the line" to give major validation to the site

Troy, first off, we didn't mean to insult you with the Captain rank, actually we were just trying to think of ranks which most people aspire too (of which many never achieve - more props to you)... we know that it takes a long time to become a captain and figured that actually a lot of people would never be able to in real life... maybe being a FishAddix captain can help to ease that pain :)... at the moment we dont have any sponsors so James and I are funding the site totally from our pockets and the limited google advertising we have... (we want to limit that bc quite frankly who likes seeing ads?) we have a great designer helping us out now (hence why the site looks crisper!) and we have a good programming team supporting james and my fantasy ideas haha so we dont get to advertise much... (btw more great ideas coming soon hahah) Its getting to the point where we need to break through to the masses, the site is built to scale, we just need to start telling people about it hahahah

I recommend reaching out to club presidents in areas...have them disiminate the info to their members...and setting you a section that will form groups for clubs.. your site keeps stats which is awesome for clubmembers you know..they can keep stats and keep track of angler of the year standings...etc
