personallyif i added anything it would be the flippin stick. I used to carry alot of rigs with me till i realized most of em lay there and dont get picked up. as soon a i find whats working the rest wont hardly get touched. now these days i carry on average 4 rod/ reels when im in my boat. 3 bait casters. one set up with my plastics (texas rig) one or two crank outfits and either a jig or spinnerbait set up . and 1 spinning outfit set up with 6-8lb test and a shaky head set up on it. these items cover 90% of my fishing. and they are all very nice outfits that will easily cover other types of lures/ baits . I own over 20 (maybe 19 by now, ive broke a couple recently) rods/ reels i found i fish better with less clutter under my feet and i know the baits im running, they are all baits a have a TON of confidence in. and if i need something else, it takes less than 30 seconds to tie a knot.

Great advice Josh. I have the same trouble as Jason. Never fished much as a kid and never know what to really though.

i've fished for over 40 yrs now and what josh is saying is 100 % correct, but basically really all ya need for bass that is ,is rubber worms different colors, spinner baits and few crank baits a couple of top water buzz or jerk baits...and that will cover alot of water area and depth. rods basically 6'-7' spinning outfits and 5'6"-6' casting and maybe a nice stiff 7'-8' flipping stick for your pig-n- jigs.. and then just go and have fun !!

experiment with different technics..fish wont eat the same way day after day, the barametric pressure and weather fronts, water clearity, water temp. current wind all play a factor in fishing...trial and error but just when ya think you have it figured out....bam! it changes again...lol.. its all about being in the great outdoors and having fun and dont forget to teach the kids too..

the best part of the fishing is the constantly changing variables... thats one of the things people who dont fish, or havent fished, just dont understand... every day its a different puzzle, even if yesterday you had them completely figured out... this is a great blog and conversation! I NEVER leave home without at least 1 flipping stick tied on, either a jig or a tube but at least 1!

I appreciate all your input guys...I do approach each day systematically and its been a while since I failed to get a limit...I seperate zones on the water...I have deep, med, shallow, then breaks, flats, and structure/cover...(meaning stumps grass brush etc, ive been able to eventually locate the fish doing this..some days right of way...other days like tues when it took me two hours to get on em...then had a total of 7 or 8 keepers spread throughout the day...and I usually end up bumping into a quality fish doing this...tomorrow is aspot ive never fished and looking at the map ive seperated my zones I will hit...I hope it works...its worked on 3 different lakes so far lets make it four..thanks again..
