as far as spinning and baitcaster and conventional too they all have there place..the ball bearings dont matter that much to me down here we have 2 speed reels and electric ones too..i mean if your fishing in 2000 ft of water a electric reel is nice.. i personally prefer lever drag system over the star drag..its more ajustable and faster to set.. another thing to is the ratio of the reel how fast you can get back line if a fish spools ya..lot more to factor in when it comes to reels.

especially when yer talkin bout salt water. on the average day in fresh water we dont have quite as much to consider. lol. but very good points
